What made you want to be an entrepreneur
I have been focused on fashion since I was young. I loved sneaking into my mom’s closet, digging through her jewelry box and going through all her dresses to create various outfits from head to toe. As I got older, I knew I wanted to be my own lady boss and I then spent years shaping my tastes and understanding of fashion until I felt ready to venture off with my own company.
Biggest fear in getting started
Taking the first step was both my biggest fear and the most exciting part. I worked at a few very well respected corporate fashion companies for over 6 years. It was an amazing learning experience but I always knew I wanted to create something on my own when I was ready. Taking the first leap and leaving everything behind was terrifying and exhilarating. I met a ton of strong women in the fashion world who were very supportive and have amazing people in my life who really believed in me, and that was a huge help to give me the confidence to go for it.
Who / what inspires you the most
Living in Los Angeles, I love walking around and seeing girls out with their own creative and individual sense of style, how they layer things and are not afraid to mess around with pieces from different eras inspires me. Traveling is also a huge part of my life. I recently came back from Bali and was inspired by all the pops of colors in the streets and incorporated that vibe into my line. Recent trips to Paris, Germany, London and Tokyo have all been inspirational in finding hidden gems and shaping my design process as well.
Best advise for aspiring designers
If this is your dream, run with it. It will be a rollercoaster ride but totally worth it. Most importantly, make sure to take in every great moment with a victory dance.
